The original smiley is the most commonly used emoji. With its lovable, broad smile, it spreads joy and optimism, and you can't help but feel happy when you look at this smiling Hoptimist. The item is made from FSC® certified oak (FSC-C166612). H 9.5 cm, D 8.3 cm.
The so-called emojis or "smileys" are used to express moods and emotions when our own smile is not visible. In this way, the small symbol helps to emphasize what we write and feel. With the cheerful face, we share good humor and positive vibes – just as the playful bounce of the Hoptimist spreads smiles from person to person.
With a strong belief in the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created his cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to create a figure that would serve as an eternal reminder to stay positive and optimistic. Because although the 60s are often referred to as "The Happy 60s", the decade was characterized by unrest. Therefore, Ehrenreich's design was a welcome bringer of joy in an otherwise rather turbulent time.
